Web Design
What makes good web design? Is it those flashy graphics and whiz bang videos? Is it the ease of use
for visitors? Is it presenting relevant information in a graphical format?
Actually it is a little bit of all of the above and NONE of the
above. By that we mean a little goes a long way when it comes to graphics. Over use of graphics is starting to turn
people off. Yes there is a still a percentage of people who like to see flashy graphics but most people are getting
bored with them.
Videos are nice but most videos go on and on and never relay the
message the visitor seeks. Long sales letters are out also. Everybody is a skimmer when they read. They skim
through articles and if it doesn't grab their attention immediately they hit the back button and their gone,
forever.
So what makes a good website design? It is a balancing act of
nice graphics, maybe a short video, and a relevant information that is easy to find and use. It also means
fast loading pages (NOTE: As of 1/1/2010 survey show that over 23% of Internet users are still
using some sort of slow dial up and/or cable service!)
Is it by chance that good websites are built? No - it takes a lot of
hard work, dedication and knowing your customer. What they want and why they are seeking the services
and/or information you offer.
